CanvasPop has partnered with Hope House to raise $50,000 for school kids in Calcutta. The children featured in the Academy Award winning film ‘ Born into Brothels’ captured these amazing images. CanvasPop generously donated their time to put several of these images onto canvas which will be displayed at the Toronto Hope House Fundraiser. We were asked us to produce a quick video blog of their involvement in this great cause.
Father Alex said it best ” You begin today a new chapter in your lives. This chapter begins with the word we, leaving behind the mine and the I”. Its easy to lose sight of the true meaning of a wedding day. Father Alex’s words inspired this piece.

Congratulations to Lisa and Tarry, winners of the Engagement film promotion. Over the next few months we will be spending time with Lisa and Tarry to story board/collaborate ideas for their engagement film. This short film will be played at their wedding reception for everyone to be a part of and enjoy. The Idea behind our Engagement Films are to give couples a chance to create and experience something unique on their wedding day. To us its not just about producing and showing a film about a couple, its so much more than that. Its about capturing that special connection between two individuals and translating that story to be experienced and shared with their closest family and friends. Taking a step back and looking at the past engagement films we produced in 2009, we can honestly say that the feeling of being together in the same room with a couple seeing their engagement film for the first time, reminds us of how important these priceless moments are. We would like to send out a big thank you to all who entered the contest, it was truly amazing to read through the emails and positive feedback you gave us. Stay tuned as we will have Lisa and Tarry’s Engagement film posted for all of you to enjoy this up coming July.
Producing Monica and Eric’s trailer brought back many memories from their wedding day. I was pretty excited to work with Monica towards creating a soundtrack for their wedding film. Their musical taste allowed us to explore many different avenues during the creative process. A big part of working together with our couples is selecting appropriate music artists/genre’s that tell us a bit about who they are.
With each new project we take on, we try to focus on more than just tying each individuals character into a great story. We aim to bring out the story behind the “special connection” that allows a relationship to reach the next level. We believe that this is one of the key elements that truly defines a beautiful relationship and in turn a beautiful wedding story.
If we were to give this film a title, we would call it “Smiles” because Monica and Eric were all smiles all day long! Now your probably thinking “It was their wedding day, of course they would be smiling”… true, but there was something about how they smiled at each other that actually made everyone around them smile. We captured Eric’s mother experiencing one of these moments during the wedding ceremony, and watching it brings back the contagious fun and energy that we experienced that day. So with this we present you with Monica and Eric’s trailer!
Joanne and Joe were married on August 8, 2009 at St. Monica’s church in Ottawa. Mark and I are usually concerned about church lighting, but fortunately the natural light was pouring in that day and it made for really good footage. It was probably the nicest day in the summer (Joanne and Joe really lucked out!).
At this wedding we had the pleasure of working with Anthony Cava from Photolux. We work well with Photolux and look forward to working with them again in the near future.
Check out Joanne and Joe’s trailer below. I’m happy with the outcome.

This past weekend we attended and displayed a selection of our short films at the Wedding Palace Bridal Show (held at Ottawa’s Westin Hotel). It was an amazing experience to be able to chat with so many people about their wedding day and talk a bit about what we do. We received a lot of great feedback and we were happy to meet with everyone that stopped by. A big thank you to all of you who entered our Engagement Film Promotion as well as Amanda Andrews and her team for putting on a great show.
