There are so many things that we learned about Amy and Fil throughout the whole process of producing this short piece. From the first time we began storyboarding ideas until our last shoot during their studio session, we saw more and more of their personalities come out and really allow us to get to know them better. One of the greatest compliments we received after showing this film at the reception was when one of the guests came up to us and said “It was so Amy and Fil”. This is exactly what we aim to do. To tell a story about the couple we are working with and to bring out the essence of who they are as individuals. The amazing part is while weaving the story together we really begin to see the reasons they are a couple and why they vibe so well. So needless to say that hearing those words from one of the guests was music to our ears.

During our studio shoot, Amy pulled off at least 6 amazing impersonations that were so good we knew we had to incorporate them into the film. The interesting part is that there are really good story’s behind a lot of her impersonations. When it came to Fil we knew we had to play on his “serious” sense of humour. He had us in tears while filming and editing took us a bit longer than expected because we kept watching the footage over and over again.

One of the greatest things about shooting an Engagement film is that it allows us to spend more time with our couples and really get to know them before their wedding day. At the same time they get a feel for our shooting style and know what to expect. When Amy and Fil first met up with us last winter we knew that they were looking for something different. Something that would really stand out and be unique. After discussing our ideas regarding an Engagement Film and explaining to them what kind of experience it is to share with family and friends at a reception, they knew that this would be the right touch to add to what turned out to be an already amazing wedding day. Amy and Fil’s Engagement Film was played for the 300 guests in attendance as an introduction to their entrance into the banquet hall.

We had a great time working with you both and a ton of fun producing this for your special day.

All the best!

There’s quite a story behind how baby Lea came into this world. I had the pleasure of spending time with her Aunt Maria several months before the baptism and got to know how much of a great family Lea was born into. After meeting with her face to face and hearing the amazing story behind her birth, I realized that this was so much more than a baptism. Spending time with the family prior to this big event was such an amazing experience. I couldn’t film for more than 5 minutes at a time without being asked to taste test a freshly baked biscotti cookie or to try some of uncle Joe’s homemade sopressata (Italian cold cuts). I was fortunate enough to be there and capture many of the events that went into making this day such a special one. Family travelled from all over the North America to be a part of this event. We would like to thank Lea and all of the family for having us take part in this special day… and for allowing me to taste test all their food.

I can remember thinking to my self during Mike and Gloria’s vows about how emotional this experience was. I was busy zipping around the church setting up my next shot with my headset feeding off of Mike’s microphone and I seriously felt as if I was right there with them. As they fought back tears struggling to get through their vows, I knew that this moment would set the tone for this piece. We hope this brings you as close as we felt during that special moment shared between Gloria and Mike.

Congratulations to Lisa and Tarry, winners of the Engagement film promotion. Over the next few months we will be spending time with Lisa and Tarry to story board/collaborate ideas for their engagement film. This short film will be played at their wedding reception for everyone to be a part of and enjoy. The Idea behind our Engagement Films are to give couples a chance to create and experience something unique on their wedding day. To us its not just about producing and showing a film about a couple, its so much more than that. Its about capturing that special connection between two individuals and translating that story to be experienced and shared with their closest family and friends. Taking a step back and looking at the past engagement films we produced in 2009, we can honestly say that the feeling of being together in the same room with a couple seeing their engagement film for the first time, reminds us of how important these priceless moments are. We would like to send out a big thank you to all who entered the contest, it was truly amazing to read through the emails and positive feedback you gave us. Stay tuned as we will have Lisa and Tarry’s Engagement film posted for all of you to enjoy this up coming July.

Producing Monica and Eric’s trailer brought back many memories from their wedding day. I was pretty excited to work with Monica towards creating a soundtrack for their wedding film. Their musical taste allowed us to explore many different avenues during the creative process. A big part of working together with our couples is selecting appropriate music artists/genre’s that tell us a bit about who they are.

With each new project we take on, we try to focus on more than just tying each individuals character into a great story. We aim to bring out the story behind the “special connection” that allows a relationship to reach the next level. We believe that this is one of the key elements that truly defines a beautiful relationship and in turn a beautiful wedding story.

If we were to give this film a title, we would call it “Smiles” because Monica and Eric were all smiles all day long! Now your probably thinking “It was their wedding day, of course they would be smiling”… true, but there was something about how they smiled at each other that actually made everyone around them smile. We captured Eric’s mother experiencing one of these moments during the wedding ceremony, and watching it brings back the contagious fun and energy that we experienced that day. So with this we present you with Monica and Eric’s trailer!

Joanne and Joe were married on August 8, 2009 at St. Monica’s church in Ottawa. Mark and I are usually concerned about church lighting, but fortunately the natural light was pouring in that day and it made for really good footage. It was probably the nicest day in the summer (Joanne and Joe really lucked out!).

At this wedding we had the pleasure of working with Anthony Cava from Photolux. We work well with Photolux and look forward to working with them again in the near future.

Check out Joanne and Joe’s trailer below. I’m happy with the outcome.

This past weekend we attended and displayed a selection of our short films at the Wedding Palace Bridal Show (held at Ottawa’s Westin Hotel). It was an amazing experience to be able to chat with so many people about their wedding day and talk a bit about what we do. We received a lot of great feedback and we were happy to meet with everyone that stopped by. A big thank you to all of you who entered our Engagement Film Promotion as well as Amanda Andrews and her team for putting on a great show.

A few months ago Kathy Youssef (owner of Fleischer Photography) was telling us about her new website and how she wanted to showcase her work in a refreshing way. We pitched the idea to produce a commercial where Media Ball would film Fleischers in action, and at the same time incorporate their photography. Kathy loved the idea so we began the creative process immediately.

We started by getting a few members of Fleischers in the studio for a short interview to discuss who they are as a company and what they bring to the table for each photo shoot.

Shortly after the interviews, Kathy called us with a couple of photo shoots for clients getting married that she wanted to use in the commercial. One being a proposal on Rideau Street (Ottawa, Canada) and the other being an engagement shoot just off the Ottawa River. Media Ball attended both shoots to catch Fleischers perform their magic. Both couples were fun, outgoing and we had a fantastic time filming them. Check it out!
